Article: I was in elementary school when we took a field trip on a school bus all the way down to San Francisco to see the Tutankhamun exhibit.

Most of the artifacts were gold as I remember and someone in our class asked if the Egyptians were Black?. You couldn’t really get a sense of that from the art on display. The museum guide said something like, “we don’t know for sure but take a look at this”. He showed us a painting on a vase that seemed to portray the Egyptians as red-brown.

The question of the racial identity of the ancient Egyptians has continued to be hotly debated now, many years later. There is a not-so-subtle subtext to the entire affair. Like the question of whether the Lord Jesus Christ was a blue-eyed White man living in the middle east. It’s a question that Christians should not be concerned with even a little bit, but many are any way.

Many fear a non-White Jesus Christ just as they fear a Black, ancient African civilization in Egypt. Many don’t recognize this as a fear, but it is certainly the paradigm and paradigms once created are difficult to uncreate.

Napoleon’s capture of Alexandria in Egypt in 1798 reignited European interest in Egypt and led to Egyptomania, especially after the publication of book, “Description de l'Égypte” in the early 19th century.
Napoleon had brought scholars, scientists, and artists with him on his Egyptian invasion of Alexandria.

Napoleon's invasion was in 1798. The book “Description de l'Égypte” which was the genesis of Egyptomania was published between 1809 and 1829.

At that time in world history, in England, slavery of Black Africans was winding down but would not effectively end until the Slavery Abolition Act of 1833. In America, which was also swept up in Egyptomania, slavery would not end until 1865, after the Civil war and the passage of the 13th Amendment to the Constitution.

No one was ready to accept that the same people that were being and had been enslaved for several hundred years had built the great monuments and wonders of Egypt. Who could believe that?
The walls began to close in in on the Non-Black African Egyptian school (led by people like Zahi Hawass today) when thousands and perhaps hundreds of thousands of photos of Ancient Egyptian Art became available on Google.

These were photographs either of a museum's own collections or photos taken by visitors to these museums s around the world. However, quite often what is shown to the world has been carefully curated.

The question is, why do you care? Why does anyone care specifically today? How about "it is what it is". Is it the lingering resistance to this idea that began in 1798 and its racial subtext?

Christians, don't let that be you.

DNA has answered many questions in recent years. It has allowed investigators to solve decades-old crimes. It has established ancestry and determined the paternity of a child. It has weighed in on many archaeological mysteries.

For those paying attention, it has ended the myth of pre-man, near-man, and so-called ancient human “relatives” dogma. Archaeologists used to argue vociferously as to whether "neanderthal man” could speak. Whether he was able to play music or if he had a language. Did he have grasping fingers? Many refused to believe that they buried their dead even when their remains were found in apparent graves with flowers.

This was all in the service of evolutionary theory.

However, in recent years, it was discovered through DNA analysis that “Neanderthal”, “Cro-Magnon Man” Denisovans and etc. all had children together at multiple times and in multiple geographical spaces.

That is one of the definitions of a species, that potential members of a species can procreate.

DNA has shown that all these people are of one race, the human race, and that Neanderthal differs from other men in exactly the same way the DNA of a Chinese person living today might differ from that of an Italian man living today, no more and no less. Every human is 99.9999% identical to every other human, “modern” or “ancient”.

For years I have seen presentations online from “fringe” researchers claiming that the ancient Egyptians were Black Africans. They focused on limited amounts of Egyptian art and things like skull, arm, and leg measurements compared to those of non-Black races.

I didn’t necessarily find it persuasive.

Fortunately, DNA has also answered the question of the racial identity of the ancient Egyptians definitively. The question will be, who will believe it?

What do you even call it when the ruling paradigms and schools of thought argue against the fact that the ancient Egyptians living in Africa might have looked like the other populations of Africans at that time? What do you call this so far successful attempt to rewrite history and to extinguish the actual racial history of a people?

As an aside, I have viewed thousands of ancient Egyptian artifacts myself and noted that an infrequent but still notable amount of these artifacts depicted Egyptians with either green or blue eyes.

This trait though not common, is one that still persists with modern ancestors of the populations that Jeanson identifies as being the direct descendants of the ancient Egyptians living today.

Traced: Human DNA's Big Surprise, by Dr. Nathaniel Jeanson

I have viewed a Youtube interview between Dr. Jeanson and Answers in Genesis many times. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6h4HkmSN30&t=637s Ancient Egyptians & Human DNA's Big Surprise | Traced: Episode 6

Dr. Nathaniel Jeanson is a Harvard-trained research biologist with a PhD in Cell and Developmental Biology from Harvard University. He is associated with Answers in Genesis, a Christian apologetics organization that promotes young Earth creationism. "Jeanson is known for his work in creation science, particularly in genetics and human ancestry. He has authored several books, including Replacing Darwin (2017) and Traced: Human DNA's Big Surprise (2022), where he argues for a biblical interpretation of human history through DNA evidence. Jeanson has also been featured in various debates and interviews concerning creationism and evolutionary biology." Answers in Genesis

This time, I had an idea for people without the time or inclination to watch a long video. . I pasted the entire transcript of the 45-minute video into ChatGPT 4 and asked it to summarize it.

Me: “This is a transcript from a YouTube Video discussing the book; "Traced, Human DNA's Big Surprise” by Jeanson. Can you summarize the important points made by the author being interviewed concerning the ancient Egyptians?”

ChatGPT: “The interview with Dr. Nathaniel Jeanson about his book “Traced: Human DNA's Big Surprise” covers several key points about the ancient Egyptians, focusing on their origins and genetic lineage as traced through modern DNA analysis. Here are the main takeaways regarding the Egyptians:

1. Origins of the Ancient Egyptians: Dr. Jeanson emphasizes that typical history education covers Egyptian politics, religion, and culture but omits the question of the people’s actual origins. He suggests that traditional education doesn’t explain where the Egyptians came from before they founded their civilization.

2. Connection Between Modern and Ancient Egyptians: The DNA evidence shows that modern Egyptians are genetically diverse, with the majority belonging to a specific Y-chromosome lineage called E1b1b. This lineage is not exclusive to Egypt but is also found in other parts of Africa and Europe. This implies that modern Egyptians are partially descendants of invaders and settlers from Asia and Europe, especially during the Arab Muslim conquests, which contributed to the genetic makeup of modern Egypt.

3. E1b1b and its African Origins: Although many modern Egyptians carry the E1b1b lineage, the deeper origins of this lineage trace back to Africa, particularly in the region of modern-day Sudan and Eritrea. This connects the ancient Egyptians to other African groups, particularly the Nubians, who ruled Egypt during the 25th Dynasty (around 700–600 BC). Jeanson suggests that the modern Egyptians have a genetic link to the Nubians, indicating that the ancient Egyptians were, in fact, Africans.

4. Influence of Arab Muslim Conquests: The Arab Muslim conquests played a significant role in shaping the genetic profile of modern Egyptians. The E1b1b lineage is widespread across North Africa and parts of Europe, corresponding with the regions conquered by the Arabs. This implies that much of modern Egypt’s population carries ancestry related to these historical movements.

5. Migration and Genetic Separation: Jeanson theorizes that the common ancestor of both the E1b1a and E1b1b lineages (which includes many modern African and some Egyptian populations) lived in northeastern Africa. Following the Assyrian invasion of Egypt around 600 BC, these populations might have split, with some groups migrating into sub-Saharan Africa and others moving toward the Arabian Peninsula, where the E1b1b lineage became prevalent.

6. Modern Egyptians’ African Roots: While modern Egyptians speak Arabic and follow Islam, which are Asian influences from the Arab conquests, their genetic ancestry reveals a deeper connection to Africa. This suggests that the ancient Egyptian civilization was African in origin, even though later migrations and conquests from Asia and Europe altered the genetic landscape of the region.

In conclusion, Jeanson's research implies that the ancient Egyptians were African, and modern Egyptians carry both African and non-African genetic influences due to centuries of invasions and migrations. The genetic diversity of modern Egypt reflects this complex history.”

Me: “Thank you. Where does he say that E1b1a and Eb11b are found in the highest "concentrations" today?”

ChatGPT: “In the interview, Dr. Nathaniel Jeanson mentions that the E1b1b lineage is found in the highest concentrations in North Africa, with particularly high levels in Somalia, where around 80% of males belong to this lineage. It is also present in Egypt, where more than 40% of males have this Y-chromosome marker, and it extends into parts of Europe and the Middle East.

For the E1b1a lineage, Jeanson explains that it is most commonly found in sub-Saharan Africa, particularly in West Africa, with some of the highest concentrations among the Nigerian population. Over 90% of Nigerian men carry the E1b1a lineage. Additionally, due to the transatlantic slave trade, approximately 60% of African-American males belong to the E1b1a lineage today.

These two lineages—E1b1b and E1b1a—have distinct geographic distributions, with E1b1b concentrated in North and East Africa, parts of Europe, and the Middle East, while E1b1a is most prevalent in West Africa and sub-Saharan Africa.”
